Distribution of Terpenoidal Constituents in Neem Parts
Quantitative data concerning limonoids are not always available except for some cases in which
the weight percentages reported are related to fractions rather than to the original plant
materials. Hence, for most limonoids a standardized quantitative analysis has not been
established yet. The reports now available reveal that most limonoids are present in trace
amounts of less than 0.00 I to 0.1 %. Higher contents are mentioned of azadirone (0.45%) and
epoxyazadirone (0.72%) in dried seeds,n Azadiradione (0:70%) in dried fruits,69 vepinin
(0.15%),106 4-epinimbin (0.25%)35 and salannin (0.95%)60 all in pure neem oil. Azadirachtin
content in many ecotypes of different geographical regions was also surveyed44. Estimates on
the relative composition of isomeric azadirachtins are also availpble57.119
